Get more Covid money

The Wichita and Affiliated Tribes is applying to the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for an emergency Indian Community Development Block Grant (ICDBG) Imminent Threat grant to renovate and modernize an existing facility for a new COVID-19 Command Center and Food Distribution Warehouse. At least four new COVID-19 response programs will be housed in the new Command Center and funded through new COVID-19 grants.

The Wichita Tribe is requesting $900,000 to remodel the middle and upper floors of the Wichita Tribe Industrial Development Corporation's (WTIDC) church building located at 301 W Broadway in Anadarko to respond to the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The project will be funded under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act signed on March 27, 2020 and completed within 12 months.

Tribal leadership is asking for tribal member comments about the proposed project. Comments are due by next week, on May 31. Comments can be emailed to LaDana.Johnson@wichitatribe.com.

Tribal members affected by COVID-19, in any way, are also asked to complete a five-question survey to help support this grant request. The survey results can also be used by the Tribe to go after more COVID-19 federal grant money.
